There are several reasons why a general dentist or another dental specialist may refer a patient to our practice. Sometimes the anatomy or location of a tooth presents significant challenges for the performance of a root canal therapy, and the expertise of a specialist is required. On other occasions, a case is referred to our office when the canals inside the tooth are particularly intricate or narrow, making the access for treatment more difficult. Also, (as happens in a small percentage of cases) a tooth that has had a previous root canal procedure may be sent our way when the symptoms have not resolved, or a problem has recurred.
